Do you need to get a person’s comment on Instagram? Are you a social media manager and need to track competitors’ actions or just want to know what one left as a comment? It is difficult due to Instagram privacy policies. Don’t worry, there are some ways that can assist you in getting comments.
In this article, we will discuss whether and how you can find a specific individual’s comment on Instagram, as well as how to view your past comments.
Earlier, Instagram even had an “Activity” section where you would be able to see the activity of the accounts that you followed, i.e., comments and likes. That is now stripped away under privacy grounds, and you can no longer see someone’s comments directly unless you look for them yourself.
There isn’t a simple way to be on top of someone’s comments, but there are a few tricks. Keep in mind these are time-consuming alternatives.
How to Find Someone’s Comment on Instagram
1. Manually Search Through Posts
Since there isn’t a simple way to view a specific user’s comments, you can attempt to search through posts they may have commented on. Here’s how:
- Visit their account and view their “Following” list.
- Find publicly available accounts that they use.
- Search through recent posts on their accounts and browse through comments for their username.
2. Instagram Web Version
On the web version of Instagram, you can use the native browser search:
- Open Instagram using your web browser.
- Open a post where the user might have commented.
- Use Ctrl + F (Windows) or Command + F (Mac) and search for the user’s name to locate their comment.
3. Look Over Your Notifications
- If someone has replied to a comment the user you’re looking for left, you may receive a notification. Look over your activity feed for activity that might lead you to the comment.
How to Locate Your Own Comments on Instagram
It is easier to find your own comments than to find other individuals’ comments. This is how you do it:
- Tap your profile picture in the Instagram app.
- Tap the menu (three horizontal lines) at top right corner.
- Go to Settings > Privacy.
- Search and tap on Comments.
- Find the Manage Comments feature. If you cannot find it, use the search icon to look for it.
- View all the comments that you’ve left on posts.
- Sort & Filter the comments by date or newest/oldest using the Sort & Filter feature.
